This film is based on a well-known German book by Erich Kästner, originally entitled "Konferenz der Tiere" ("The Animals' Conference"),which was not primarily a children's book, rather a parable for adults, an attempted answer by the author to the Third Reich and the Second World War. It's about the representatives of all animal species, who, as mankind’s politics have failed, are organizing an international conference toachieve peace on earth. Despite, or maybe because of the seriousness of the underlying theme, the film was successfully released world-wide, and, for example, managed to sell more than 1.5 million tickets in Germany and more than 1 million in France. Animals United was the first 3D-stereocopic feature made in Germany.
A group of animals waiting for the annual floods they rely on for food and water discover that the humans, who have been destroying their habitats, have built a dam for a leisure resort. The animals endeavor to save the delta and send a message to the humans not to interfere with nature.
